FALCONS FOR SALE

 About Us

Our experience in falconry

Today, we can look back on the decades that we spent with our proud feathered friends. Looking back on those days, we at Roots Falconry would not want to miss a single day indeed. There is only one way to get comprehensive experience and have success in falconry—if someone is absolutely dedicated and intensively engaged in falconry over many years, as we at Roots Falconry are. Yes, of course, there must be a very positive and close relationship between one feat hered friends… Contact Us

We at Roots Falconry were also intensively engaged in the classical form of hunting with falcons, which enabled us to collect valuable experience and mirrored our success in breeding. We have also successfully been hunting with Falcons and Golden Eagles for years, and later I began to breed Falcons with success. By the way, our first hunting falcons were Lanner [Falco biarmicus], Peregrines [Falco Peregrinus], Saker [Falco Cherrug], Gyrfalcons [Falco Rusticolus], later Gyr/Saker [Falco Rusticolus/Falco Cherrug] and also Gyr/Peregrines [Falco Rusticolus/Falco Peregrinus].

Hacking falcons

The wild hacking falcons are released for a certain time to reach their hunting potential by giving them experience. The method is used for young falcons to become an independent and successful hunter. Hacking is a very beneficial technique to train hunting falcons. Look at our current hunting birds and falcons for sale.

We offer the following captive-bred falcons:

Gyr falcons (Falco rusticolus)—White, Silver, and Grey

  • Peregrine Falcons—Peale’s (Falco peregrinus pealei) and Anatum (Falco peregrinus anatum) and a 4-way cross Figian, macropus, Peales’ and Anatum subspecies.

The genetics for our Gyr falcons come from the following breeders in the US and Canada: Danny Ertsgaard, Dan Konkel, Charles Schwartz, Robert Berry, Steve Baptiste, Mark Moglich, Brian Stoddard, Mike Cook, Jim Wilson, Martin Lee, Lee Merrick and Mike Erickson.

The genetics for my Peregrine Falcons come from the following US breeders: Bruce Haak, Bill Murphy, Dave Knutson, Dave Cherry, Brian Sullivan, Jim Hansen and from wild taken eyasses from Idaho and Utah.

You can choose the way your falcon is raised:

  • Fully Parent Raised – This is the most common way our falcons are hatched and raised. They are raised by their parents until they are fully grown.
  • Partially Parent Raised – Parents hatch and raise the young falcons to 30-35 days old (the four-week window method). They are easy to tame and make very little noise like an imprinted falcon. They are an excellent choice for falconry, natural pairing, and raptor education.
  • Imprinted – This is a special order where I hatch and hand raise a limited number of falcons until shipment. These are excellent choices for breeding (AI), falconry or raptor education. Caution: Unless handled carefully, imprinted falcons can become very noisy and exhibit other bad behavior.
